Best M&A Advisors for Bootstrapped and Founder-Led SaaS Exits (2026)

Key takeaways

Livmo takes first place for founder-led sellers. Its founder has sold two companies himself, and the firm describes a 21-step exit planning program for a stated $1M to $20M band. L40 Partners is second. In our deal index, 36.1% of advised SaaS sales went to private equity buyers, against 21.4% of unadvised sales.

Verified Deal Network Advisors

We interviewed these firms. They confirmed their closed deals and registration basis to us, so we checked the record ourselves under our methodology instead of copying it off a website. They sit at the top of the page for that reason, though their rank in the list below still follows this guide's criteria.

Bootstrapped founders need an advisor who walks them through the sale, not one who simply runs it. Livmo says its team is made up of former founders, developers and technologists. L40 Partners says a senior partner leads every process, and Windsor Drake says its founder and Managing Director leads every engagement. This page ranks ten advisors for owners who hold most of the equity and have never sold a company.

A bootstrapped company has no investor hurrying it along and no board telling the founder when to go. So the founder alone decides price, structure and timing, usually while learning what a working capital adjustment is. Laying out the steps before the first buyer call shortens that education, and that is what a good advisor does.

Past the usual deal record, we checked three things. Does the firm speak to first-time sellers? Does it offer planning work before a sale? Do the people who pitch you also run the mandate? If a firm publishes no evidence, the entry says so. Further down, the deal data section sets advised SaaS sales in our index beside unadvised ones.

How We Ranked These Firms

Five criteria, 100 points. Founder-led and bootstrapped fit is worth 30, since a firm that ignores the owner-operator will run your sale like a corporate carve-out. Exit planning and first-sale guidance, plus public software deal record, are worth 20 each. Operator experience and process clarity are worth 15 each.

A firm earned zero on any line where it published nothing, and we gave no credit for facts we could not find. Three firms here belong to the ProCloser Deal Network, and membership played no part in scoring. When scores tied, the firm with the clearer published process went higher.

Weighted criteria

Founder-Led Fit (30%): Does the firm say it works with owner-operators, founder-run sales or partner-led engagements? Livmo scores highest: its founder sold two companies and it states a $1M to $20M band.

Seller Guidance (20%): Planning work, research or explainers aimed at people who have never sold.

Public Software Deals (20%): Software closes with a date and a source link.

Founder Experience (15%): Principals who ran, sold or financed operating businesses.

Published Process (15%): Steps, timelines or fees printed on the firm's site.

Sources: firm websites (deals, about and office pages), the ProCloser deal index, and public deal announcements. The firms did not write or review their entries.

The 10 Best M&A Advisors for Bootstrapped and Founder-Led SaaS Exits, Ranked

1 Livmo Verified · Deal Network

Public deals on record: 1

Deal Index: credited on 1 tracked 2026 tech deal (as of Oct 2026)

Best for: First-time sellers who want a structured exit plan ahead of a sale.

  • Closes we could name: InfoSentience to Paradium.AI (August 2026, Livmo credited as advisor in the ProCloser Deal Index). Founder Khaled Azar represented the seller in a $15M kids' educational app sale that Axial named to its Top 12 Deals of 2024. Its site also shows a sold educational app (40M+ downloads, 89K paying subscribers) and a HubSpot SaaS and customization agency shown as sold at $3.5M.
  • Focus: Technology and digital businesses, including SaaS, apps and agencies
  • Size range stated: $1M to $20M in revenue
  • Based in: San Diego, CA
  • Year founded: Not published

Of the ten, Livmo speaks to the first-time founder most directly. Khaled Azar leads Livmo, an M&A advisor for SaaS and digital businesses in San Diego, and says he has over 25 years of experience in technology, digital advertising and entrepreneurship, and that he has launched a dozen companies and sold two of his own. Livmo's stated $1M to $20M revenue band also covers the size where many bootstrapped companies sit.

Livmo describes a 21-step exit planning program with a two-year roadmap. Its site also lays out a five-step sale process, Strategic Analysis through Due Diligence Management. On the public record, founder Khaled Azar represented the seller in a $15M kids' educational app sale that Axial named to its Top 12 Deals of 2024, and Livmo is credited as advisor when InfoSentience sold to Paradium.AI in August 2026. As a Deal Network member, Livmo falls under the disclosure at the foot of this page.

2 L40 Partners Verified · Deal Network

Public deals on record: 2

Deal Index: credited on 2 tracked 2026 tech deals (as of Oct 2026)

Best for: Founder-owned SaaS companies at $5M ARR or more that want partners on the call.

  • Closes we could name: KrakenD to Shop Circle; FirstPromoter to SpringWater; Big Red Cloud to Melior Private Equity.
  • Focus: Technology, software and AI
  • Size range stated: Typical SaaS range of $5M to $100M ARR (sell-side page)
  • Based in: Miami, FL (offices also in Lisbon and Madrid)
  • Year founded: Not published

L40 Partners fits a founder who owns most of the equity and would rather deal with partners than analysts. It describes partner-led engagements and reports more than 180 transactions. Its sell-side page lists $5M to $100M ARR as the typical SaaS range.

Offices in Miami, Lisbon and Madrid let it sell across borders. Shop Circle bought KrakenD, SpringWater bought FirstPromoter, and Melior Private Equity bought Big Red Cloud. The firm never calls its practice bootstrapped, but all three sellers were small software companies. L40 Partners belongs to the ProCloser Deal Network and ranks second because its floor sits above Livmo's.

3 Windsor Drake Verified · Deal Network

Public deals on record: none yet in the Deal Index

Best for: Founders who want the principal on every call and a published fee schedule.

  • Closes we could name: None named on its site.
  • Focus: Fintech and payments, software and technology, healthcare and medical technology, and consumer, retail and distribution
  • Size range stated: $5M to $300M enterprise value
  • Based in: New York, NY and Toronto, ON
  • Year founded: Not published

Windsor Drake caps itself at fewer than twenty mandates a year, with founder Jeff Barrington leading every engagement. If you have never sold, the person setting strategy is also the person talking to buyers. The firm states $5M to $300M in enterprise value and works from New York and Toronto.

Its six-phase process runs about nine months, and Windsor Drake is one of the few firms here to publish a fee schedule. Four sectors are listed: fintech and payments, software and technology, healthcare and medical technology, plus consumer, retail and distribution. The site names no closes. A Deal Network member, it ranks third on founder-led fit and process clarity but lower on public record.

4 Software Equity Group

Public deals on record: 2

Deal Index: credited on 2 tracked 2026 tech deals · view record (as of Oct 2026)

Best for: Founders who want a software-only firm with published market research.

  • Closes we could name: ID Plans (Polaris Growth Fund); PickTrace (Terminus Capital Partners); Cherre (RealPage).
  • Focus: B2B software, SaaS and AI, sell-side only
  • Size range stated: Not published
  • Based in: Encinitas, CA (681 Encinitas Boulevard, Suite 407)
  • Year founded: Not stated on its own site (it cites more than 25 years of practice)

Software Equity Group is based in Encinitas, California and sells only B2B software, SaaS and AI. SEG cites 175+ deals, an 87% buyer response rate and 10,000+ buyer relationships. Before your first call you can read the SEG SaaS Index and quarterly reports to see what buyers pay.

Named sales include Cherre (RealPage), ID Plans (Polaris Growth Fund) and PickTrace (Terminus Capital Partners), and our deal index lists PickTrace on October 13, 2026. No size band is published, and nothing on the site speaks to bootstrapped founders by name. The record is strong. Fit for the smallest sellers is unclear, so SEG takes fourth.

5 Vista Point Advisors

Public deals on record: 3

Deal Index: credited on 3 tracked 2026 tech deals · view record (as of Oct 2026)

Best for: Founder-owned software companies that want a firm with recent, dated closes.

  • Closes we could name: EasyLlama (investment from Inverness Graham, September 15, 2026); Spin.AI (investment from K1, March 11, 2026); Bonsai (Zoom, announcement titled pending).
  • Focus: Software, AI and internet, sell-side only
  • Size range stated: Not published
  • Based in: San Francisco, CA (555 Mission Street, Suite 2650)
  • Year founded: Not published

Vista Point Advisors acts only for sellers, in software, AI and internet, and works out of 555 Mission Street in San Francisco. The news page dates each announcement. Inverness Graham invested in EasyLlama on September 15, 2026, K1 invested in Spin.AI on March 11, 2026, and Bonsai was announced as joining Zoom, though the headline reads pending.

The list mixes minority investments with outright sales. That matters if you want partial liquidity rather than a full exit. Our deal index names Vista Point as advisor on three SaaS sales in 2026. It publishes no size band or founding year, and says nothing to first-time sellers. Fifth place rests on the record more than on stated fit.

6 iMerge Advisors

Public deals on record: none yet in the Deal Index

Best for: Founder-owned software companies that want a quick process and only software buyers.

  • Closes we could name: Virtual Staging AI to Zillow; Datatrac to Valsoft; ConnectALL to Broadcom (named in image text only).
  • Focus: Software and technology only
  • Size range stated: $3M to $50M ARR
  • Based in: Boston, Dallas, Seattle and San Francisco (no headquarters named)
  • Year founded: Not published

iMerge Advisors covers software and technology and states a range of $3M to $50M ARR. It reports more than 150 deals, over $1B in value, and 90% of its engagements closing, within three to five months. You run the company day to day, so a short process has real value. A year-long distraction is not an option.

The home page shows Datatrac to Valsoft, ConnectALL to Broadcom and Virtual Staging AI to Zillow, but no per-deal page dates any of them. Offices are listed in Boston, Dallas, Seattle and San Francisco, with no named headquarters. It takes sixth: a good size fit, offset by a record we couldn't date.

7 FE International

Public deals on record: none yet in the Deal Index

Best for: Solo founders and small teams selling an online business with modest revenue.

  • Closes we could name: Asperato to Unaric; Cloud Orca to Cooper Parry; LinkBuilder to NextNet Media.
  • Focus: SaaS, AI, cybersecurity, ecommerce, edtech, fintech, marketplace apps and agency businesses
  • Size range stated: Not published
  • Based in: Not published on the pages we read
  • Year founded: 2010

FE International opened in 2010 and states 1,500+ transactions and a 94.1% success rate. It handles a wide mix of online businesses, so a solo founder with a small SaaS product is a client it meets often. That volume gives it a repeatable process, though any one client may get less attention.

Press releases name LinkBuilder (NextNet Media), Asperato (Unaric) and Cloud Orca (Cooper Parry). We found no headquarters and no size band on the pages we read. Seventh place reflects large volume and no stated fit for founder-led software.

8 733Park

Public deals on record: none yet in the Deal Index

Best for: Founder-owned vertical software and payments companies at $5M EV or more.

  • Closes we could name: GeniusVets to ProSites (December 2025); Forefront Processing merchant portfolio to Unity Fi Solutions (October 2025); TransNet merchant portfolio sale (May 2025).
  • Focus: Payments, fintech, AI and vertical SaaS, sell-side and buy-side
  • Size range stated: $5M to $350M enterprise value
  • Based in: Boston, MA (One Boston Place, Suite 2600)
  • Year founded: 2006

733Park, founded in 2006, works from One Boston Place. It takes sell-side and buy-side mandates and reports $10B+ in volume across 200+ deals, within a range of $5M to $350M in enterprise value. Its team has sat at both tables, which may help a seller facing diligence for the first time.

Dated releases name a TransNet portfolio sale (May 2025), a Forefront Processing portfolio sale to Unity Fi Solutions (October 2025) and GeniusVets (ProSites, December 2025). A $5M floor and a payments-heavy record explain eighth place for bootstrapped software sellers.

9 Website Closers

Public deals on record: none yet in the Deal Index

Best for: Owner-operators of small digital businesses who prefer a local broker.

  • Closes we could name: Buyers are not published. Its pages name sellers Gorilla Shipper (2019), German Muscle, Omni, Bower Web Solutions and Plush Paws.
  • Focus: Ecommerce, Amazon, SaaS, digital marketing, websites, eLearning and affiliate businesses
  • Size range stated: $1M to $1B
  • Based in: Not published (brokers in Orlando, Melville NY, Nashville, Sarasota, Tampa and Bradenton)
  • Year founded: Not stated (its about page says its history begins in 1998)

Website Closers handles affiliate, eLearning, digital marketing, SaaS, Amazon and ecommerce businesses and states a range of $1M to $1B. Its about page dates the firm to 1998. Its brokers are based in Bradenton, Tampa, Sarasota, Nashville, Melville and Orlando. A regional broker is on offer if that is your preference.

Testimonials name sellers such as Gorilla Shipper (2019), Omni and Bower Web Solutions, never buyers. We can't tie any close to a bootstrapped SaaS exit, so it lands ninth on software evidence.

10 Objective Investment Banking & Valuation

Public deals on record: none yet in the Deal Index

Best for: Founders open to a generalist valuation and banking firm with a San Diego presence.

  • Closes we could name: Toft Group Executive Search to ZRG Partners; Freeberg Industrial Fabrication, investment from Hill & Smith PLC (June 24, 2026).
  • Focus: Middle-market companies across industries
  • Size range stated: $10M to $100M enterprise value, from a 2017 Los Angeles office announcement; the home page does not repeat it
  • Based in: Los Angeles, CA, with San Diego, Orange County and Denver locations (the San Diego registered office does not accept mail)
  • Year founded: 2006

Objective Investment Banking and Valuation was founded in 2006 and cites more than 500 advisory engagements. Its main office is in Los Angeles. The San Diego address on its site is a registered office that takes no mail. A 2017 announcement put its range at $10M to $100M in enterprise value, and the home page doesn't repeat it.

Being a generalist, it gives a software founder valuation depth but no software-only buyer list. Named closes include Toft Group Executive Search (ZRG Partners) and a Hill and Smith PLC investment in Freeberg Industrial Fabrication (June 24, 2026). Neither is a software sale, which is why it takes tenth.

What the Deal Data Shows About Advised SaaS Sales

Deciding between a fund and a strategic buyer? Our index holds 449 SaaS deals dated January 2 to October 29, 2026. Of those, 61 name a sell-side or buy-side advisor and 388 do not. Advised sales lean toward private equity buyers.

MeasureAdvised SaaS deals (61)Unadvised SaaS deals (388)
Private equity buyer (pe or pe_backed_strategic)22 (36.1%)83 (21.4%)
Cross-border16 (26.2%)105 (27.1%)

The private equity gap is 14.7 percentage points. Cross-border share barely moves, 26.2% against 27.1%, so an advisor doesn't appear to change how often a SaaS company sells abroad. Of the 61 advised rows, 51 name a sell-side advisor and 33 a buy-side one, and some name both.

Strategics buy most of the advised deals, 25 of them. Private equity and public companies took 13 each, private equity-backed strategics 9, and one buyer was undisclosed. Among advisors, J.P. Morgan appears 5 times and Raymond James 4. Morgan Stanley, Moelis, Evercore, Vista Point, Jefferies and TD Securities show up 3 times each.

Two cautions. Bigger deals name advisors more often, so the advised group skews to larger companies; our sub-$20M SaaS exits guide shows 0 of 9 deals under $20M naming one. And the private equity share is a correlation. Nothing here proves an advisor makes a fund bid.

Method. Source: the ProCloser Deal Index (deals.json), limited to confidence high or medium, sector SaaS and January 2 to October 29, 2026. A deal is advised if either advisor field is filled. A buyer counts as private equity when its type is pe or pe_backed_strategic, and cross-border follows the index flag.

How to Choose When You Own the Company

Pick the advisor whose people could explain your deal back to you. As sole owner you carry the whole outcome, so clarity beats brand. Ask each firm to describe the first 90 days in plain language.

Haven't sold before? Begin with planning. Livmo describes a 21-step exit planning program with a two-year roadmap. Our guide to the best exit planning advisors covers firms that plan without running a sale. With two to three years to go, a planning phase can fix revenue concentration, contracts and reporting before buyers see them.

Selling within a year? Weigh process and buyer reach. Partner-led firms such as L40 Partners and Windsor Drake put the senior person on your calls, while larger shops such as FE International bring volume. Neither wins outright. Find out who will be on the phone in month four.

Read the fee terms before the pitch deck. Retainers, success fees and tail periods differ by firm, and upfront costs hurt bootstrapped founders most. Our explainer on brokers versus M&A advisors shows how each charges.
