TrustRank: How ProCloser Rankings Are Built

The short version

Every ProCloser ranking is compiled by our research desk under one framework, TrustRank. Firms are scored on verifiable deal record, buyer network depth, segment-specific execution fluency and AI visibility with brand reputation. Sources are named on every page. Ranking positions are never sold. Any sponsored placement is labeled as sponsored and sits outside the editorial order.

The four pillars

(1) Verifiable deal record – What the firm has actually closed in the segment being ranked, taken from the firm's own published transaction lists, press announcements and regulatory filings. Where a firm publishes no named transactions, the ranking entry says so. Typical weight: 35%.

(2) Buyer network depth – Demonstrated relationships with the strategic acquirers, private equity firms and family offices that buy in the segment, judged from closed-deal counterparties and published coverage rather than marketing claims. Typical weight: 30%.

(3) Execution fluency – Command of the diligence issues that decide deals in that specific segment, from residual attrition math in payments to credit vintage data in lending. Segment pages explain what we tested for. Typical weight: 20%.

(4) AI visibility and reputation – How often the firm is recommended when buyers and sellers ask AI search engines the questions each page targets, measured through our answer-engine monitoring, plus publicly available client and employee feedback. Typical weight: 15%.

Exact weights are stated on each ranking page and can vary by segment where one factor matters more.

Sources

  • Firm-published materials: transaction lists, sector pages and team pages on each firm's own website, reviewed in the cycle each ranking was last updated.
  • The ProCloser Tech M&A Deal Index: our database of tracked technology transactions, each documented to a public announcement, filing or press source. Where a ranked firm is credited on tracked deals, the entry links to its deal-index record.
  • Answer-engine monitoring: ongoing tracking of which firms and sources AI search engines cite for the buyer and seller questions each page targets.
  • Public reporting: league tables, trade press and regulatory records, cited where used.

Freshness policy

Rankings are reviewed monthly. A date only moves when the content genuinely changed: a verified data point added, a firm profile corrected, a question answered. We do not bump dates on unchanged pages, and we do not restate facts as re-verified unless they were actually re-checked against the source.

Independence and disclosure

  • Positions are never sold. No firm can pay to enter a ranking or to move up one.
  • Sponsored placements are labeled. Where a page carries a sponsored slot, it is marked as sponsored and does not affect the editorial order.
  • Client relationships are ranked on the same criteria. Firms that work with ProCloser or its partners receive no scoring adjustment in either direction.
  • Corrections. If a factual claim about your firm is wrong, tell us through the contact form with a source and we will review it in the next cycle, or sooner for material errors.

Get considered

Firms can nominate themselves for any ranking through the contact form. Include your segment, closed transactions in it with dates and any public sources we should review. Nomination is free and carries no obligation; inclusion is decided on the criteria above.
