Methodology and caveats

Disclosed values only. 16% of tracked deals publish a price. Medians and means describe that subset; undisclosed deals are excluded from value math and never estimated.

Selection bias runs large. Public companies and megadeals disclose more often than private lower-middle-market sales, so these figures skew high compared to the full market. For owner-level pricing, the multiples-by-industry report is the better benchmark.

Multiples are reproduced, not computed. A multiple appears only when the linked source states it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the median disclosed value of a tech M&A deal in 2026?

$126.9M across the 237 tracked deals with a disclosed price. Only 16% of tracked deals disclose a price, and disclosure skews toward larger transactions, so treat this as the median of disclosed deals, not the market.

What EBITDA or revenue multiple do software companies sell for?

Announcements rarely state multiples, so this page reproduces them only where the source did. For benchmark ranges by industry, see ProCloser's EBITDA & SDE Multiples by Industry and SaaS Revenue Multiples reports.

Why are most deal values undisclosed?

Private buyers and sellers have no obligation to publish terms. 1225 of 1462 tracked deals (84%) were announced without a price; this index records them as undisclosed rather than estimating.

How current are these benchmarks?

They are recomputed from the open dataset on every build; the pipeline checks public sources daily. Last updated Aug 19, 2026. Download the CSV or JSON to reproduce every number.
