How we ranked the firms
ProCloser publishes this page, and ProCloser Research assigned the tiers. The list is written for an owner in the Philadelphia metro area, which here means Philadelphia and its suburbs such as Radnor, West Conshohocken, Broomall and Horsham. A firm qualified only if its own website shows a Philadelphia area office address, or says its principals are in Philadelphia. Firms whose own pages showed no Philadelphia area office were left out.
How tiers were assigned
Tier A, disclosed deal count. The firm states a transaction count of 300 or more on its own site.
Tier B, named transactions. The firm states no total count but names transactions and says what role it played.
Tier C, limited evidence. The firm has a Philadelphia area office but publishes little or no named deal evidence, or is a business intermediary or an accounting firm practice.
Within a tier, firms are ordered by the size of the disclosed record and by sector breadth. Excluded from the ranking: third party directory counts, which conflict from site to site, press coverage the firm does not publish itself, and any claim without a public page behind it. A disclosed count is a firm statement and ProCloser has not audited it.
Where a page carries no date or role, the entry says so rather than guess. Facts are as published on each firm's site as of October 2026, and every page is linked in the Sources section.

Which Firm for Which Situation
| Your situation | Start with |
|---|---|
| You want the largest disclosed deal record | Capstone Partners (over 600 assignments, firm wide), then SSG Capital Advisors (500 plus) and Fairmount Partners (330) |
| Your company is under financial or operational pressure | SSG Capital Advisors, which describes special situations as its focus |
| You run a consulting, technology services, healthcare, industrial or consumer company | Fairmount Partners, whose four listed sectors match those areas |
| You want a Center City bank with role-stated deals | Mufson Howe Hunter, which names three transactions as exclusive financial advisor |
| You own a smaller owner operated business | The Bridlebrook Group, a business intermediary in Broomall |
| You need quality of earnings or tax work before a sale | Kreischer Miller, whose transaction advisory page lists both |
Tier A: A disclosed deal count of 300 or more
These three firms disclose a transaction count of 300 or more on their own sites.
1 Capstone Partners
National middle market investment bank headquartered in Boston that lists Philadelphia as one of its additional office locations.
Best for: Owners who want a national sell-side platform with a large published deal record and a Philadelphia office.
Capstone Partners' contact page lists Philadelphia under "Additional Locations" next to its Boston and Denver headquarters. The page gives no street address or named bankers for the Philadelphia office, so ask which banker would lead a Philadelphia mandate.
Its advisors page says the team has "closed over 600 M&A, financing, and financial advisory assignments, representing over $25 billion of value." That count is firm wide, not Philadelphia only.
| Published deal evidence | Firm wide: over 600 M&A, financing and financial advisory assignments, over $25 billion of value |
| Role stated | Not stated on the pages reviewed |
| Tier | A |
Considerations: The count covers the whole firm and every service line. Ask for the Philadelphia office team and for closed sales near your size in the last 24 months.

2 SSG Capital Advisors
Independent boutique investment bank in West Conshohocken focused on special situation transactions for middle market companies.
Best for: Owners of companies under financial or operational pressure, and sellers who want a firm that also handles restructurings and private placements.
SSG Capital Advisors lists 300 Barr Harbor Drive, Suite 420, West Conshohocken, PA 19428 under a Philadelphia heading, with phone (610) 940-1094. It describes itself as an independent boutique serving middle market companies and their stakeholders on special situation deals, covering M&A, private placements, financial restructurings, valuations, and litigation and strategic advisory.
Its site cites 25 plus years in business and 500 plus successful transactions across North America and Europe, across 24 listed industries. The Successful Transactions section names Wiser Solutions, Ox Industries Holding Co., Jackson Healthcare, Vegamour, Tonopah Solar Energy and Sandy Alexander, though the page does not state SSG's role or a date on most of them.
| Published deal evidence | 500 plus transactions cited; named transactions include Wiser Solutions, Ox Industries Holding Co. and Jackson Healthcare |
| Role stated | Not stated on most transaction listings |
| Tier | A |
Considerations: A special situations focus suits a stressed sale and may be less natural for a clean, growing business. Ask which of the 500 plus closes were sell-side sales of healthy companies.

3 Fairmount Partners
Independent investment banking firm in Radnor serving middle market and emerging growth companies.
Best for: Owners of consulting, technology services, healthcare, industrial or consumer companies who want a Main Line boutique with a large disclosed deal count.
Fairmount Partners lists 555 East Lancaster Avenue, Suite 640, Radnor, PA 19087, with phone (610) 260-6200. It describes itself as an "independent investment banking firm focused on serving the needs of middle market and emerging growth companies" and states it is a registered broker-dealer and a FINRA and SIPC member.
The firm discloses 330 transactions for clients worldwide, across four sectors: Consulting and Technology Services, Healthcare, Industrial and Consumer, and Technology. Its services include sell-side and buy-side M&A, minority and majority equity recapitalizations, growth equity, financing and management buyouts. Its homepage lists recent transactions including H2O Degree, SANNOVA Analytical and CareerArc, without stating the firm's role on the homepage itself.
| Published deal evidence | 330 transactions disclosed; recent listings include H2O Degree, SANNOVA Analytical and CareerArc |
| Role stated | Not stated on the homepage listings |
| Tier | A |
Considerations: The homepage names deals but not the firm's role in each, so confirm the role on each press release before relying on it. Ask how many of the 330 were sell-side.
Firm pages: Fairmount Partners website
Tier B: Named transactions with the firm's role stated
These two firms publish no total count but name transactions and describe their role.
4 Mufson Howe Hunter
Philadelphia investment bank focused on M&A and private capital raising for middle market companies.
Best for: Owners of business services, consumer, industrial services or technology companies who want a Center City bank with named, role-stated transactions.
Mufson Howe Hunter lists 1717 Arch Street, 37th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19103, with phone (215) 399-5410. Its tagline is "Investment Bankers for Growth," and it says its senior bankers each have 20 plus years of transactional experience and that every mandate is staffed with at least two senior bankers.
The firm claims no total deal count. Its site names three transactions and states it was exclusive financial advisor on each: Straub Metal International, sold to NIM; EDA Contractors, which acquired Glazing Concepts; and Verocel, acquired by Wisk, a wholly owned subsidiary of Boeing. Listed sectors are Business Services, Consumer Products and Services, Manufacturing and Industrial Services, and Technology and Services.
| Published deal evidence | Straub Metal International to NIM; EDA Contractors acquires Glazing Concepts; Verocel to Wisk |
| Role stated | Exclusive financial advisor on each listed transaction |
| Tier | B |
Considerations: No deal count and no transaction dates are published, so recency is not visible. Ask for closes in the last 24 months.

5 MidMarket Capital Advisors
Corporate finance advisory firm for middle market companies whose site describes its principals as based in Philadelphia.
Best for: Owners who want a small principal led team covering sale, growth capital and valuation questions together.
MidMarket Capital Advisors' homepage says "the partners in Philadelphia" have backgrounds in investment banking, corporate development and direct investing, and its contact page lists a 215 area code phone, (215) 875-8201. The site gives no street address, so this entry rests on the Philadelphia statement only.
The firm says it has served business owners for over 30 years. It offers strategic advice on ownership options, M&A, growth capital and valuation, and lists completion fee or time based fee structures. Named work on its site includes Corcentric's $80 million convertible preferred stock sale to Bregal Sagemount, Corcentric's $32 million acquisition of Determine and a $200 million Corcentric debt recapitalization.
| Published deal evidence | Corcentric: $80 million convertible preferred sale to Bregal Sagemount, $32 million acquisition of Determine, $200 million debt recapitalization |
| Role stated | Financial advisor (as described on its site) |
| Tier | B |
Considerations: The most detailed examples are financings for one company, not company sales. No total deal count is published, so ask for completed sell-side sales and the buyers.
Firm pages: MidMarket Capital Advisors website; MidMarket Capital Advisors contact page
Tier C: A Philadelphia office with limited published deal evidence
These three firms have a Philadelphia area office on their own pages but publish little or no named deal evidence, or are intermediaries or accounting practices.
6 Stout
National advisory firm with a Philadelphia investment banking office that opened in 2016.
Best for: Owners of healthcare services, industrial or business services companies who want a national bank with a Philadelphia based senior banker.
Stout's locations page lists its Philadelphia office at 1818 Market Street, Suite 3150, Philadelphia, PA 19103, phone +1.267.499.3200. Its firm history page notes Philadelphia was among the offices opened in 2016.
The profile of Max Halsted, Director, Healthcare Services Investment Banking, shows an office location of Philadelphia and lists five sell-side advisory engagements without naming the sellers, including a regulated bioanalytical and CMC services provider, a durable medical equipment supplier and a highly engineered plastic components manufacturer. The page has a "Load more" option, so more may exist.
| Published deal evidence | Five sell-side engagements on one Philadelphia banker profile, sellers not named |
| Role stated | Sell-side advisory |
| Tier | C |
Considerations: The sellers are anonymous, so nothing can be checked by name. Ask for references and for the Philadelphia team that would run your process.

7 The Bridlebrook Group
Business intermediary in Broomall for confidential sales and mergers and acquisitions of owner operated companies.
Best for: Owners of smaller, owner operated companies in trades, services and light industrial niches who want a local intermediary rather than an investment bank.
The Bridlebrook Group lists 2801 West Chester Pike, Suite 300, Broomall, PA 19008, with phone (610) 325-7066. It describes itself as a Philadelphia area business intermediary for confidential business sales and M&A, and says it has been "Selling High-Quality, Profitable Companies Since 2003."
The site states no deal count and no formal sector list. The businesses it mentions span many fields, including plumbing and heating, landscaping, medical spas, child care, electrical contracting and freight and warehousing.
| Published deal evidence | No deal count published; mentions a broad mix of owner operated businesses |
| Role stated | Intermediary on confidential business sales |
| Tier | C |
Considerations: Intermediaries typically suit smaller companies. Ask for the revenue range of recent sales and for the closing timeline on each.

8 Kreischer Miller
Horsham accounting and advisory firm whose M&A and transaction advisory practice supports buy-side and sell-side work.
Best for: Owners who want deal preparation, quality of earnings and tax planning from a regional accounting firm before or alongside a sale process.

The page cites "billions of dollars of deal experience" and over 45 years of experience, and gives no deal count or named transactions.
| Published deal evidence | No named transactions or deal count published |
| Role stated | Not stated |
| Tier | C |
Considerations: This is a transaction advisory practice inside an accounting firm, so confirm whether it runs a full sell-side auction or supports one. Ask who markets the company to buyers.

How to Choose
Three questions separate the firms quickly.
- Which of your closest sales did this firm close, and who bought? Ask for three sales near your size and sector, with the buyer on each.
- Who runs my process? Ask whether a senior banker, not a junior team, leads your sale, and where that person sits.
- Which buyers will you call first and why? A good advisor names buyer types and specific names by pattern, not a generic list.
Before you call anyone, a free business valuation estimate gives you a range to test their answers against.
What the ProCloser Deal Index Shows for Philadelphia
The index has no state field, so we searched deal text for Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh terms. That search returns 4 records out of 2,211, and those are name mentions, not a confirmed set of Philadelphia metro sellers.
That sample is under 10, so this guide states no valuation multiple and no buyer mix for Philadelphia. Browse the ProCloser deal index for the sectors it covers in depth.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who are the best M&A advisors in Philadelphia?
Capstone Partners, SSG Capital Advisors and Fairmount Partners lead this guide because each discloses a transaction count of 330 or more on its own site and shows a Philadelphia area office. Mufson Howe Hunter and MidMarket Capital Advisors follow with named transactions. Stout, The Bridlebrook Group and Kreischer Miller complete the list with a Philadelphia area office and less published deal evidence.
Which Philadelphia M&A advisors have offices in the suburbs?
Fairmount Partners is in Radnor, SSG Capital Advisors is in West Conshohocken, The Bridlebrook Group is in Broomall and Kreischer Miller is in Horsham. Mufson Howe Hunter and Stout are in Center City Philadelphia.
How were the firms chosen?
A firm qualified only if its own website shows a Philadelphia area office or states that its principals are in Philadelphia. Firms whose own pages showed no Philadelphia area office, or whose sites could not be reached during research, were left out rather than guessed.
How were the tiers assigned?
Tier A firms disclose a transaction count of 300 or more. Tier B firms publish no total count but name transactions with the firm's role. Tier C firms have a Philadelphia area office and limited published deal evidence, or are intermediaries or accounting practices. ProCloser publishes this page and assigned the tiers itself.
What does an M&A advisor charge to sell a company?
This guide does not state fees, because none of the firms reviewed publishes a fee schedule on the pages cited. MidMarket Capital Advisors says it offers completion fee or time based fee structures. Ask every firm for its retainer, success fee and any minimum fee in writing before you sign.
Is a Philadelphia advisor better than a national one?
Not automatically. Capstone Partners and Stout are national firms with a Philadelphia presence, while Fairmount Partners, SSG Capital Advisors and Mufson Howe Hunter are independent firms with a base in the metro area. The better fit is the firm that has closed sales near your size and sector, wherever its headquarters sits.
What is the difference between an investment bank and a business intermediary?
An investment bank such as Fairmount Partners or Mufson Howe Hunter typically runs a broader buyer process for larger companies. A business intermediary such as The Bridlebrook Group typically handles confidential sales of smaller owner operated businesses. Ask each firm for the revenue range of its recent closes.
How many Philadelphia deals does the ProCloser deal index show?
The index has under 10 Philadelphia deals, so this guide states no valuation multiple and no buyer mix. The index holds 2,211 deals as of October 31, 2026 and has no state field. A text search for Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh terms returns 4 records.
What should I ask a Philadelphia M&A advisor before hiring them?
Ask for three closed sales near your size and sector with the buyer on each, who personally leads the process, which buyers they would call first and why, and what the fee is if no deal closes. Check the answers against public records.
Does ProCloser get paid by the firms on this list?
ProCloser operates a matching service that introduces sellers to advisory firms, may receive compensation when a seller connects with an advisor through it, and is not itself an M&A advisor. The firms on this list were selected on the criteria in the methodology section, using facts from each firm's own website.

Every firm fact comes from the firm's own pages as published in October 2026, and the deal index figures carry a data date of October 31, 2026. Offices and teams change, so confirm the address and the banker before you call.

Where ProCloser Fits
ProCloser is not an M&A advisor, does not run sale processes and does not take a success fee on any transaction. We operate a matching service that introduces sellers to advisory firms, some of which appear above.
That last clause is a conflict and you should treat it as one. Read the editorial disclosure at the bottom of the page. Then check each advisor's record yourself, because the opinion that should decide your mandate is the one you form after calling references.
