Tech M&A Advisor League Table for Q3 2026: Who Was Credited

Quick answer

Across 1,027 tech and SaaS acquisitions announced in Q3 2026, 90 named at least one advisory firm in a public source. Those deals carry 145 firm credits for 91 distinct firms. Jefferies led with 8 credited deals. This is a count of who was publicly named, not of who did the most work; 91.2% of the quarter's deals name no advisor. Extract of October 14, 2026.

Key findings

1. 90 of the 1,027 deals announced in Q3 2026 (8.8%) named at least one advisory firm in a public source, against 8.7% in Q2 2026.

2. Those 90 deals produced 145 credits across 91 firms: 78 sell-side and 67 buy-side. 66 of the 91 firms (72.5%) were credited only once.

3. Jefferies was credited most often, on 8 deals. 15 firms appeared on both the sell side and the buy side in the quarter.

4. 28 credited deals disclosed a value, together $20.44 billion. Credited deals had a median disclosed value of $425 million.

How a credit is earned

A firm earns one credit when a public source linked on the deal row names it as financial advisor on a tech or SaaS acquisition announced between July 1, 2026 and the last day of September 2026. A credit is counted once per deal per firm, so a firm named on both sides of one transaction counts once in the total and once in each side column. Legal, tax and diligence advisors are not counted.

This page counts both sides of a deal. The sell-side and buy-side columns separate them. The sell-side league table counts the sell side only. Firm names are grouped the way the deal index groups them, so legal suffixes and common variants collapse into one entry.

The quarter is defined by announcement date. Completion is not tracked.

1 credited deal in the quarter carries a value that the source marks as reported only (a media estimate, an unconfirmed report or a figure that is not a purchase price). It is set aside: excluded from every disclosed-value total, count and largest-deal figure on this page. The credited-deal list shows each as a reported value, unconfirmed.

League table by credited deals

25 firms had two or more credits. The table lists the top 25 by credited deals; ties are ordered by sell-side credits and then alphabetically, which is a tie-break and not a ranking judgment.

League table by disclosed value

This view adds up the disclosed deal value of every deal a firm was credited on. It is the value of the transaction, not a fee or a share of it. A deal with several credited firms counts in full for each of them, so the totals overlap and do not sum to the quarter's disclosed value. Most credited deals disclose no price: 62 of 90 are unpriced and add nothing here.

What the numbers say

  1. 90 of the 1,027 deals announced in Q3 2026 (8.8%) named at least one advisory firm in a public source, against 8.7% in Q2 2026.

Each sentence is generated from the same rows as the tables, so every figure can be rechecked against the open file: filter announced_date from 2026-07-01 to the end of 2026-09 and count credited advisors.

What this table is not

It is not a measure of deal volume. A credit exists only where an announcement names the firm. 91.2% of the quarter's tracked deals name nobody. A firm with more credits is more often named in public, which can reflect how its clients announce deals as much as how many it advises.

It is not a recommendation. Credit counts say nothing about fit, price achieved or fees. For choosing a firm see the matching service.

If your firm advised on an announced tech deal that is missing, send the public link through the submit-a-deal form. The rule is the same for every firm: a public source must name the advisor.

Frequently asked questions

Which advisors were credited on the most tech M&A deals in Q3 2026?

Jefferies was credited on the most deals, with 8. 90 of 1,027 deals named an advisor in a public source.

How many advisory firms were credited in Q3 2026?

91 distinct firms across 145 credits on 90 deals. 25 firms had two or more credits.

Does this table count buy-side advisors?

Yes. It counts both sides, 78 sell-side credits and 67 buy-side credits in the quarter. They sit in separate columns.

Is a higher credit count the same as more deals advised?

No. A credit requires a public announcement that names the firm. Many transactions never name an advisor, so a count measures public naming.

How do I get my firm added or corrected?

Send the public announcement through the submit-a-deal form. A link to a source that names the firm is what the index needs.

Sources

Every credited deal above links to the announcement that names its advisors. The naming sources for the 90 credited deals were 52 news articles, 31 press releases, 6 SEC 8-K filings and 1 advisor announcement. The data is public:
